PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide pharmaceutical compositions that enhance absorption of therapeutic agents across mucosal membranes or the skin.SOLUTION: A pharmaceutical composition contains an absorption enhancer that enhances absorption of therapeutic agents across mucosal membranes or skin. The absorption enhancer contains a hydroxy fatty acid ester of polyethylene glycol. The hydroxy fatty acid ester of polyethylene glycol is polyethylene glycol 660 hydroxy fatty acid ester. Thereby, absorption of therapeutic agents across mucosal membranes or skin can be enhanced.
