METHOD FOR DETERMINING DELAY PARAMETERS FOR USER DATA FLOW SYNCHRONIZATION FOR eMBMS

In order to calculate a delay parameter for synchronized data transmission in a cellular communications network, a service center transmits a message to a base station including a transmission time. Upon receipt of the message, the base station determines a time of receipt of the message. A delay parameter is then determined by the base station as the difference between the time of receipt and the time of transmission. In one embodiment, the delay parameter is transmitted back to the service center by the base station.

1. A service center for Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services, MBMS, in a cellular communications network comprising:
a communications subsystem configured to communicably couple the service center to a core network of the cellular communication network; and a processing subsystem associated with the communications subsystem and configured to:
transmit a message including a transmit time from the service center to a base station of the cellular communications network via the communications subsystem; andreceive a delay parameter from the base station via the communications subsystem that defines a delay between the service center and the base station in response to transmitting the message.
