An animal foodstuff in pelletized form comprises a core of a foodstuf coated with a mixture of a sweet-tasting substance and an assimilable form of iron. The core may comprise dried milk products, fish meal, soga bean meal, cereals, animal or vegetable fat, sugar substances, minerals and vitamins. Lactic acid may also be present. The sweet-tasting substance may comprise glucose, sucrose, lactose, frustose, saccharin, cyclamates and mixtures thereof. The assimilable form of iron may be ferrous fumarate, sulphate, gluconate, or lactate or reduced iron or mixtures thereof. The sweet-tasting substance, in powdered form or as a concentrated solution and the assimilable form of iron may be mixed with the core foodstuff to coat the same. |
