Provided is an image generation device for generating an image allowing a user to recognize an image improvement effect by clearly indicating a region to be processed. An image generation device (1000) comprises a screen duplication unit (1), a mask region determination unit (2), a compositing unit (3), and an image quality adjustment unit (4). The screen duplication unit (1) extracts at least a part of the image region from an input image and outputs the part of the image region as an image to be processed. The mask region determination unit (2) determines a mask region in the image to be processed, while generating a mask image which clearly indicates the mask region. The image quality adjustment unit (4) applies a prescribed image processing to the image to be processed in the mask region determined by the mask region determination unit (2), and outputs the image to which the image processing was applied as an image with adjusted image quality. The compositing unit (3) acquires a composite image containing the image to be processed, the mask image, and the image with adjusted image quality so that the image to be processed, the mask image, and the image with adjusted image quality are displayed in a single display screen. |
