This method for manufacturing an assembly obtained by joining a ceramic member comprising a ceramic to a copper member comprising copper or a copper alloy has the following steps: a lamination step in which a ceramic member and a copper member are laminated together with an active-metal material and a copper-phosphorus brazing filler metal that contains 3-10 mass% phosphorus interposed therebetween; and a heat-treatment step in which the ceramic and copper members that were laminated together are heat-treated.
