A functional film obtained by alternately forming an organic layer and an inorganic layer, wherein the organic layer formed on the inorganic layer has a silane coupling agent represented by the following general formula [1]: (R1)3-Si-R2-Si-(R1)3...general formula [1] (where R1 is an alkoxy group which may have a substituent group, R2 is a straight-chain alkylene group which may have a straight-chain substituent group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, and each R1 may be the same or may differ). A functional film having excellent gas barrier performance and having a high-quality organic layer with minimal outgassing provided on the inorganic layer at high adhesion, and a method for manufacturing the functional film, are thereby provided. |
