Provided is a redox flow battery electrolyte capable of preventing precipitation from occurring during a battery reaction. In the redox flow battery electrolyte, the total concentration of impurity element ions involved in the occurrence of precipitation during a battery reaction is 220 mass ppm or less. When the impurity element ions involved in the occurrence of precipitation contains metal element ions, the total concentration of the metal element ions is 195 mass ppm or less. When the impurity element ions involved in the occurrence of precipitation contains nonmetal element ions, the total concentration of the nonmetal element ions is 21 mass ppm or less.
