Process for preparing diorganoantimony compds. (I) R2SbZR' (I) where R and R' = opt. substd. alkyl, aryl or alkenyl groups Z = -OOC- or -S- by reacting at least 1 mol. (R2Sb)2O with 2 mols HZR' in an inert hydrocarbon solvent with the continuous removal of H2O. The process gives high yields of pure (I). Stabilisers, bactericides, fungicides. The reaction is carried out under reflux at 40-150 deg.C using a solvent which azeotropes with H2O below 100 deg.C.
