The present invention relates to a noxious gas detecting device and a method thereof. A noxious gas detecting device according to one aspect of the present invention includes multiple band pass filters. Each band pass filter includes a band pass filter unit having a peak wavelength and a band preset based on a penetration ratio of a noxious gas per infrared wavelength range; an infrared thermo-image acquiring unit acquiring infrared thermo-images inputted via the band pass filter unit; and a noxious gas detecting unit detecting a noxious gas based on the infrared thermo-images acquired by the infrared thermo-image acquiring unit. A noxious gas detecting system according to another aspect of the present invention includes an infrared filter bank including multiple infrared filters; a thermo-image camera acquiring thermo-images including information about the detection of a noxious gas by taking thermo-images of the noxious gas passing through the multiple infrared filters; a rotating unit rotating the infrared filter bank; and a camera acquiring actual images of a photographing area of the thermo-image camera. A noxious gas detecting method according to the other aspect of the present invention includes a band pass filter setting step of setting the peak wavelength and the band of the band pass filter based on the penetration ratio of the noxious gas per infrared wavelength range; an infrared image acquiring step of acquiring infrared images inputted via the band pass filter; and a noxious gas detecting step of acquiring the information about the detection of the noxious gas included in the infrared images.
