An automatically synchronized time indicating system comprises means for transmitting primary correction signals to a plurality of time indicating devices and means for substituting a secondary correction signal in the event of failure of any primary correction signal. A master clock 1 produces electrical timing pulses every second and these are converted by a translator 2 into high frequency timing signals which are passed, via a coupling device 4 and a communication channel 5, to drive a pulse-driven clock 11, an electronic digital clock 13, a programme or time-stamp or like clock 14, and a plurality of slave clocks 16 coupled to a repeating relay 9. Additionally two synchronous clocks 10 and 12 are operated from a power supply mains via the channel 5. Periodically, e.g. hourly, correction signals are received via a radio receiver 7 and pass via a selector 6 to a translator 8, which converts them into high frequency signals which pass via a coupling device 15 to the channel 5 to synchronize all the clocks 10 to 14 and 16. If, however, a correction signal is not received by the receiver 7 during a predetermined period a control unit 3 produces a secondary correction signal which passes to the clocks 10 to 14 and 16 via the units 8, 15. |
