<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound having a high refractive index, exhibiting no absorption of the ultraviolet range and no fluorescence, excellent in transparency, giving no adverse effect on the environment on disposal, and polymerizable by an industrially advantageous ultraviolet curing apparatus using a high-pressure mercury lamp or the like; and to provide a method for producing the same, and a polymerizable composition containing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a 10-(substituted carbonyloxy)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,4-methanoanthracene-9-yl-(meth)acrylate compound includes subjecting a 10-hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1,4-methanoanthracene-9-yl-(meth)acrylate compound to carbonate esterification.
