1,201,864. Metal bonding porous compacts by chemical plating. TOYODA MACHINE WORKS Ltd. (TOYODA KOKI K.K.) AND T. ASAEDA. June 14, 1968 [June 16, 1967], No.28599/68. Heading C7F. A metal bonded porous article e.g. a grinding wheel is made by forcibily passing a metal salt solution through a compact of pretreated powder e.g. diamond, "ALUNDUM" (Trade Mark) CARBORUNDUM (Trade Mark) to deposit a metal such as Ni-P, Cu, Co, Ni-Co and Ag. The pretreatment comprises at least one of cleaning, sensitizing with Sn Cl2, actuating with Pd Cl2. Prior to compacting the particles may be coated with Ni, Cu, Co, Ni-Co by vacuum, chemical or gas plating and a further electrolytic coating of Cu, Ni, Ag or Cr may be applied. The particles are compacted in a synthetic resin mould frame 8 with a synthetic resin core 9 and covered with synthetic resin nets 10 and 11. Chemical plating is effected see Fig.5 by sucking the plating liquid through the compact 14 via pump 20. After coating, the resin frame, core and nets are removed and the compact is heated at 300‹ - 500‹ C. in a vacuum or inert gas. A specific Ni coating bath contains NiCl2 .6H2O, NaH2PO2 .H2O, CH3 COONa-3H2O with HCl to a pH of 4À5-5À5. |
