In a propeller assembly comprising a propeller 7, shroud 5 and diffuser 2, each propeller blade 4 is connected at its outer end to a propeller ring 8 or to a segment 9 of a segmented propeller ring and the ring or segmented ring is provided with vanes 6 which are situated between the ring or segmented ring and the shroud. In the embodiment of Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), a cavity in the shroud houses the vanes.
