1,112,720. Sealing strips; glass runs. SCHLEGEL MANUFACTURING CO. 10 June, 1966 [11 June, 1965 (2)], No. 25887/66, Heading E1J. Sealing strips and glass runs comprise a pile finish 22 on a backing strip 23 supported in turn by a lamina 24 of a synthetic thermoplastic resin. The pile is preferably of polypropylene, as is the woven fabric strip 23, the pile being attached to the strip by being woven thereinto, or tufted or sewn thereon, or by fusion, adhesive or flocking. The lamina 24 also preferably includes polypropylene, and may be an ethylene-propylene co-polymer. The strip 23 may be, e.g. clipped e.g. to a vehicle or boat with, as shown, a strip 40 of rubber or plastics, and a metal support member 41 therebetween. Various other methods are described, incorporating different securing means. A glass run (e.g. 10, Figs. 7-11, not shown) is formed as a channel, with pile extending inwardly from one or both flanges, the channel being formed, e.g., by hot moulding from a pre-scored strip having the pile attached thereto.
|
