<p>The arrangement i.e. cardiac stimulation and defibrillation arrangement (200), has a bipolar electrode lead (250) whose sensing electrode (251) senses cardiac action potentials and defibrillation electrode (260) e.g. shock coil, transmits shock pulses to cardiac tissue. A switching unit (213) switches the sensing electrode to a potential of the defibrillation electrode in response to an output of defibrillation shock by a defibrillation component (211). The switching unit is arranged in the defibrillation apparatus or in the electrode lead, and comprises a varistor and a switching element.
