The provision of a prediction device, prediction method, and computer program for predicting a value pertaining to a phenomenon that exhibits variation over time. This prediction device is provided with the following: a recording means whereby values pertaining to a phenomenon that exhibits variation over time are associated with category values pertaining to a plurality of related phenomena that are related to the aforementioned phenomenon and said values are recorded so as to form a time series; an extracting means for extracting, from the plurality of categories for which category values are recorded, a category corresponding to each of a plurality of classifications appropriate to attributes of the related phenomena and a category for which there are no periods in which the category value for said category reaches zero; a deriving means for deriving correlation strengths using the values pertaining to the abovementioned phenomenon and the values from the extracted categories; and a predicting means for computing a predicted value pertaining to the abovementioned phenomenon, for a target prediction period, on the basis of the derived correlation strengths. |
