摘要 <p>The present invention relates to a system for controlling operation of a main air compressor using regenerative braking power of an electric railway vehicle and a method thereof, and has a purpose of providing the system for controlling the operation of the main air compressor by using the regenerative braking power, generated when the regenerative braking occurs at the electric railway vehicle, as operation power of the main air compressor utilizing air braking in the electric railway vehicle. To attain the purpose, the present invention comprises: a main air tank pressure measuring device measuring the pressure of a main air tank to transmit the pressure to a main air compressor control device; the main air compressor control device comparing the regenerative braking power generated from a propulsion control device a preset minimum regenerative power reference value to control the operation of the main air compressor, and comparing the pressure of the main air tank with each of the upper limit operational air pressure setup value and the lower limit operational air pressure setup value of the main air compressor to control the operation of the main air compressor; the main air compressor receiving the regenerative braking power from an assistant power device of the electric railway vehicle and driven according to the control of the main air compressor control device using the received regenerative braking power; and the main air tank storing the amount of compressed air supplied via the main air compressor by the control of the main air compressor control device and supplying the compressed air to a braking air pressure control circuit.</p>
