A roller element bearing (2, fig 1) includes a seal arrangement (6, fig 1) having a carrier ring 7 and a thermally sensitive element 9 arranged between the carrier ring and the rolling elements of the bearing. The thermally sensitive element has movable parts that take a first position adjacent to the rolling elements at a first temperature, and a second position more distant from the rolling parts at a second higher temperature (fig 3). The thermally sensitive element is formed as a segmented ring with each ring segment 11 constituting one of the movable parts and being connected at one of its ends 12 in a circumferential direction with the carrier ring and being unconnected to the carrier ring at its other end in the circumferential direction. Preferably, the thermally sensitive element is formed by a bimetallic element, and is arranged to circulate grease. |
