<p>A tape storage medium TP comprising a servo band SB along a longitudinal extension x of the tape. The servo band comprises a set of servo tracks STx of width wST extending along the longitudinal extension of the tape and arranged next to each other. A total of two different servo patterns PN_A, PN_B are contained in the set of servo tracks and servo patterns of adjacent servo tracks are different from each other. A tape head comprises two servo readers SR1 and SR2 for reading the servo band. A width wSR1, wSR2 of each servo reader orthogonal to the longitudinal extension of the tape is at least half the width of a servo track. The two servo readers are offset oR from each other orthogonal to the longitudinal extension of the tape by d*wST+n*wST with 0 < d < 1, and with n being an integer n = [0, 1, 2 N] where N is the number of servo tracks in the set. The servo patterns may contain pseudo noise sequences.</p> |
