<p>A device for sensing the foam-filled gap between successive discrete bottom facing sheets of a moving continuous foam laminate, the device comprising a long reference feeler and a short penetrating feeler spring against and monitoring the under surface of the laminate, the penetrating feeler being adapted to spring upwardly into the foam-filled gap thereby moving relatively to the reference feeler, means for detecting such relative motion and, after a predetermined delay, for actuating cross-cutting means for cutting the foam in register with the ends of the discrete bottom facing sheets.</p> |
