A toothed driving belt of elastomeric material 1, 3, e.g. chloroprene rubber, with longitudinal reinforcing strands 2 of wire, glass fibre, or other non-metallic material of high elastic modulus, has the toothed face covered by a rubberized fabric 4 which is self-lubricating to minimize tooth wear. The impregnating rubber for the fabric contains 5% to 40% of graphite or molybdenum disulphide, an example comprising 45% chloroprene rubber, 2% zinc oxide, 1À8% magnesium oxide, 6À2% mineral oil, 15% conductive black, and 30% graphite. The fabric has a twill weave to give grooves 7 inclined to the longitudinal axis of the belt. |
