In a contact logging apparatus of the kind in which the electrode assembly is mounted on a retractable linkage, which in use is spring- urged into the expanded position forcing the electrodes against the wall, the electrode assembly is pivotally mounted (at 38 Figs.4, 5, 7 not shown) about an axis parallel to the bore, for limited movement, so that the assembly can align itself with the borehole wall when the bore is not truly circular Fig. 3.
