<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge replacement type cutting tip excelling in cutting performance, heat crack resistance and dimensional accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The edge replacement type cutting tip includes at least a base material. The base material comprises a cemented carbide containing 8.5-12.5 mass% of a ferrous metal, 0.28-1.13 mass% of Ta and unavoidable impurities, in which the rest is WC. WC particles in the structure of the cemented carbide has an average particle size of 0.8-2μm. Representing the coercivity of the base material as HC (kA/m) and the mass% of Co contained in the base material as M<SB POS="POST">Co</SB>(mass%), the following equation (I) is satisfied, and no phase containing Ta as a main component separates out in the structure of the cemented carbide.
