The fusible element 1 of a quick-acting fuse has a surface coating of glass insulation to prevent oxidation in a high humidity environment and at temperatures of up to 500-600‹ C. The element may be of cast copper microwire coated with a borosilicate glass to a thickness of 2 to 15 microns. The coating thickness does not greatly affect the melting current value. The element 1 may be soldered to foil portions 3, 4 on a ceramic support 5 enclosed in a tubular case 6. |
