S-methyl isothiouronium sulphate in 100 ml. H2O, the hot soln. treated with 5.55 g. Ba(NO3)2 in 100 ml. H2O and filtered gave on cooling (I, Hal=Cl; A= -(CH2)2-)HNO3 salt in 189-90 deg.C (H2O). (II), b8= 144-8 deg.C, is prepared from beta-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)ethyl chloride and N2H4.
