<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment composition for a color filter that suffers from less deterioration in contrast and luminance even after baked. <P>SOLUTION: The pigment composition for a color filter comprises an organic pigment and a resin, where a solid epoxy resin represented by a specific general formula is contained as the resin and the pigment composition further contains an organic pigment derivative. The method of manufacturing the pigment composition for a color filter comprises a step of kneading a mixture comprising an organic pigment, an organic pigment derivative, a solid epoxy resin represented by the specific general formula and a water-soluble organic solvent in the presence of a water-soluble inorganic salt.
