The invention relates to a piece of furniture (1), comprising a lighting device having several light sources (7), a sensor arrangement that detects foreign bodies without contact, and a controller, which switches on the lighting device, that is, brings the lighting device to a higher brightness value, and switches off the lighting device, that is, brings the lighting device to a brightness value that is lower than in the switched-on state, depending on the signals of the sensor arrangement triggered by the position of the foreign body, wherein the sensor arrangement is designed so as to differentiate different positions of the foreign body, and the lighting device is divided into several portions, each of which comprises at least one light source and which can be switched on and off individually, wherein the lighting device is operatively connected to the sensor arrangement in such a way that only a certain portion of the light sources is switched depending on the detected position of the foreign body and is switched off again if the foreign body is removed from said position. |
