<p>A mobile communication device 3(UE) is described, which communicates with a universal integrated circuit card 38 (UICC). The communication device sends to the UICC a command s402a relating to a first task requested by a first application. The UICC, in responsive to said first command, sends a response message indicating that the command is being processed s403. The communication device sends to the UICC a second command s406a relating to a second task, different from the first task, and the UICC sends a response to the second command s406b. The communication device sends to the UICC a further command relating to a first task s408a. In response to the further command, the UICC sends a further response message s408b relating to the first task (e.g. the results of the first task or a further indication that the task is being processed). This allows pseudo-parallel processing of commands at the UICC to allow greater efficiency.</p> |
