Provided is an engine system that uses exhaust gas to drive a fuel pump, the fuel pump being able to supply fuel in a stable manner even when the load of the engine fluctuates. This engine system (100) comprises: an engine (10) having a fuel pump (14) driven by hydraulic oil; a hydraulic oil pressure-raising pump (30) for raising the pressure of the hydraulic oil; an auxiliary hydraulic oil pressure-raising pump (60) disposed in parallel or in series with the hydraulic oil pressure-raising pump (30) and used to raise the pressure of the hydraulic oil; a power turbine (50) driven by the exhaust gas and used to drive the hydraulic oil pressure-raising pump (30); an auxiliary electric motor (70) for driving the auxiliary hydraulic oil pressure-raising pump (60); and a control device (80) for acquiring the pressure of the hydraulic oil supplied to the fuel pump (14) and controlling the output of the auxiliary electric motor (70) so that the acquired hydraulic oil pressure reaches a predetermined pressure that has been set in advance.
