PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester using a manganese complex in which an epoxide and a cyclic acid anhydride can efficiently be subjected to alternating copolymerization.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a polyester in which an epoxide and a cyclic acid anhydride is subjected to alternating copolymerization in the presence of a manganese complex and a co-catalyst composed of a salt between at least one phosphorus and/or a nitrogen-containing cation selected from the group consisting of a cation represented by [RN], a cation represented by [RP], a cation represented by [RP=N=PR]and an imidazole derivative and at least one anion selected from the group consisting of F, Cl, Br, I, N, an aromatic carboxylate, an alkoxide and an aryloxide. |
