PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to reduce bothersome works relating to sorting or supplying one-side printed paper, and a control method therefor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming apparatus body having paper-feed stages (upper and lower decks 109, 110, left and right cassettes 131, 132), and a finisher unit 150 having an inserter tray 161 and paper-discharge trays 181-183. A CPU 702 of the finisher unit 150 determines whether a sheet detected by a sheet-surface detection sensor 152 is a reusable sheet, which has no image at least on the other side and can be reused for image formation, or not. The one-side printed sheet and an unavailable sheet are sorted into each corresponding paper-discharge tray according to settings which associate a paper-discharge tray to which the one-side printed sheet is discharged with a paper-feed stage to which the one-side printed sheet is supplied, settings of the paper-discharge tray to which the unavailable sheet is discharged, and the amount of sheets remaining on the paper-feed stages.
