PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a cover section to be easily closed even when a developing roller is brought into contact with a photoreceptor drum reliably.SOLUTION: A developing apparatus 13 of an image forming apparatus includes: bearing member for supporting a developing roller and a magnetic roller in a rotatable manner; first biasing means for biasing the bearing member in a direction where the developing roller comes close to the photoreceptor drum; a shaft member 31 which swings the bearing member by moving forward and backward; and second biasing means which biases a shaft member 31 forward. A cover section 15 swings from an open position to a closed position to push the shaft member 31 backward, and swings from the closed position to the open position to draw out the shaft member 31 forward.
