PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collision relaxing device capable of achieving the avoidance of collision with an own vehicle caused by a lateral position object or the reduction of a collision damage.SOLUTION: The collision relaxing device includes: collision avoidance determination means (S104) for determining whether or not there exists a collision risk between an own vehicle and a lateral position object; target movement position setting means (S108, S111) for, when it is determined that there exists the collision risk by the collision avoidance determination means, setting a target movement position for moving an own vehicle to reduce the damage of collision with the own vehicle; and acceleration control means (S115) for allowing the own vehicle to accelerate to the target movement position. The acceleration control means is configured to, when it is determined that there exists the collision risk by the collision avoidance determination means, allow the own vehicle to move to the target movement position set by the target movement position setting means before it is estimated that the lateral position object reaches a range where the vehicle width of the own vehicle is extended in a vehicle longitudinal direction. Therefore, it is possible to avoid collision with the own vehicle caused by a lateral position vehicle, or to reduce the damage of collision caused by the lateral position object. |
