<p>PURPOSE: Control device and method of a linear compressor are provided to easily detect top dead center and to enhance the operating efficiency by detecting the top dead center using a gas damping constant while operating under increased frequency. CONSTITUTION: A control device of a linear compressor comprises a phase difference detecting unit(300), a gas damping constant calculating unit(410), a gas damping constant inflection-point detecting unit(510) and a control unit(600). The phase difference detecting unit detects the phase difference between stroke and the motor current applied to a compress motor(800). The gas damping constant calculating unit calculates the gas damping constant based on the motor current, the stroke and the phase difference. According to the change of the stroke, the gas damping constant inflection-point detecting unit detects the inflection point of the gas damping constant. The control unit detects the top dead center based on the inflection point of the gas damping constant.</p> |
