The photo flash bulb has zironium foil inside the glass envelope, and an ignition pill at the bottom. A copper tube (4) through the base is directly in contact with the ignition pill at its top, and housing a striker pin (6) inside its base. This pin is cylindrical, and made of steel. - The copper tube has a necked portion (8) to locate the top of the pin, which is pointed to fit into this necked part. For side impact, the bottom of the tube (5) is pointed, and for end impact, the bottom can be flat. The pointed top (6a) of the pin can be cone or pyramid shaped and its body is coated with ignition material (9). |
