<p>Provided are: a cellulose ester film which exhibits excellent weather-resistant adhesion and excellent brittleness or elasticity after drawing, while maintaining optical properties such as transparency and retardation at adequate levels; and a method for producing the cellulose ester film. Also provided is a polarizing plate which is provided with the cellulose ester film and does not generate color unevenness in cases where the polarizing plate is used in a liquid crystal display device. This cellulose ester film satisfies the following relations of nx < ny and Ex > Ey when the refractive index in the x direction is represented by nx, the refractive index in the y direction is represented by ny, the elastic modulus of the film in the x direction is represented by Ex and the elastic modulus in the y direction is represented by Ey, and the slow axis thereof is perpendicular to the direction where the elastic modulus is maximum. This cellulose ester film is characterized in that the relation of nx > ny is satisfied and the slow axis thereof is parallel to the direction where the elastic modulus is maximum if the cellulose ester film is drawn by 15% or more at a temperature of 160°C or less and the in-plane refractive index of the film is measured.</p> |
