PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filament winding apparatus which prevents the apparatus itself from breaking when a tension of a fiber bundle goes to excess.SOLUTION: A filament winding apparatus which winds a fiber bundle F fed from a bobbin B on an outer peripheral surface of a liner 1 includes: a tension-detecting part 110 which is disposed on a route of a fiber bundle Fc from the bobbin B to the liner 1, and detects a tension of the fiber bundle F between the bobbin B and the liner 1; a cutting part 120 which cuts the fiber bundle F extending to the bobbin B; and a holding part 130 which is disposed at the upstream side in a running direction of the fiber bundle F with respect to the cutting part 120, and holds the fiber bundle F cut by the cutting part 120. Here, the cutting part 120 cuts the fiber bundle F when the tension of the fiber bundle F detected by the tension detecting part 110 is excessive, and the holding part 130 holds a yarn end F1 of the fiber bundle F extending to the bobbin.
