PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a deterioration product which is contained in lubrication oil and contributes to deposition to a slide member.SOLUTION: A deterioration product detection method has: a step (insoluble matter generation step S310) of mixing pentane with lubrication oil to generate pentane-lubrication oil mixture; a step (aggregate generation step S312) of mixing mixture of n-butyl diethanolamine, isopropyl alcohol, and pentane with the lubrication oil to generate aggregate-lubrication oil mixture; a step (insoluble matter calculation step S314) of calculating an amount of an insoluble matter which becomes insoluble in the pentane-lubrication oil mixture; a step (aggregate calculation step S316) of calculating an amount of the aggregate aggregated in the aggregate-lubrication oil mixture; and a step (difference derivation step S318) of deriving difference between the amount of the insoluble matter and the amount of the aggregate.
