<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering stopper, by which the user can obtain haptic feedback (tactile touch) when the rotation of the wheels reaches a maximum allowable limit, and also to provide a method for operating the steering stopper.SOLUTION: A steering stopper for a vehicle with a steer-by-wire steering system comprises a steering shaft 11 for connecting a steering wheel 10, a restraining bracket 40 fixedly arrangeable to the vehicle, and a restraining member 30, the restraining member 30 being insertable by a drive device 35 in a gap 22 between a restraining zone 42 of the restraining bracket 40 and a restraining portion 12 coupled to the steering shaft 11. In this case, the restraining member 30 is arranged in a restraining position such that the restraining member 30 blocks a rotary motion of the steering shaft 11 relative to the restraining bracket 40, on one hand by frictional forces between the restraining member 30 and the restraining position 12, and on the other hand by frictional forces between the restraining bracket 30 and the restraining portion 12 and/or the restraining area 42.</p> |
