A brush-holder for a variety of purposes, e.g. single or multi-phase machines, comprises two identical mouldings which when assembled together define at least one cavity for receiving a brush. The mouldings may be of glass-filled nylon and have aligning projections 25 and recesses 26; each cavity is defined by the walls 13, 22, 23 of one and 24 of the other moulding, and in the walls 12 . . . 14 are the coiled portion 20 of a brush pressure spring and the hexagon head 17 of a terminal screw 16. There may be a plurality of moulding pairs clamped on a rod passing through central bores 11, and in other embodiments a single- or a four-brush holder is clamped by a pair of rods.
