PRODUCTION OF PREFORMS WITH PRESET REFRACTIVE INDEX PROFILE, PREFORM AND OPTIC FIBRE

FIELD: process engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of fibre optics. Proposed method comprises the steps that follow. Refractive index profile is set for preform with two segments that feature definite refractive index: segment of initial preform, first circular component and hollow cylindrical component of finished preform. Initial cylindrical preform is fitted into outer cylindrical tube to create multiple refractive rods to be arranged around initial preform. Rods should form the preform first circular component. Then, first-kind granular material with the fourth refractive index is fed into outer shell pipe. Note here that granular material forms the finished preform component. Then, assembled preform is processed to get the finished preform for fibre to be drawn therefrom.EFFECT: better preform, higher quality of optic fibre.15 cl, 7 dwg
