The present invention relates to a binder composition for a secondary battery, the binder composition containing conjugated dienes latex particles (A) with an average diameter of 50 to 200 nm and acryl-based copolymer latex particles (B) with an average diameter of 300 to 700 nm, which are present in independent phases, wherein the acryl-based copolymer latex particles (B) are contained in 1 to 30 wt% on the basis of solid weight. If the binder composition according to the present invention is applied to an electrode assembly and a lithium secondary battery, excellent binding strength can be maintained between electrode materials and between the electrode material and a current collector, which suffer volume changes during charge and discharge; a secondary battery having excellent initial capacity and efficiency can be provided; and the possibilities of increasing the thickness and generating gas at high temperatures can be decreased to reduce a swelling phenomenon, thereby providing a battery with improved stability. |
