Factor viii-fc chimeric and hybrid polypeptides, and methods of use thereof

Disclosed is the use of a long-acting FVIII polypeptide in the manufacture of a medicament for maintaining homeostasis in a human subject in need of a surgery, said medicament being formulated to provide the human subject with a therapeutic dose of the long-acting FVIII polypeptide, wherein the therapeutic dose is about 20 IU/kg to about 60 IU/kg, and wherein the medicament is formulated to be administered at a dosing interval of every 12 to 72 hours.
