The HV DC voltage regulator and stabiliser, for communications equipment, consists of the series combination of the voltage source and load and several identical transistors. Each transistor has its collector/emitter shunted by a zener diode. The bases of the transistors are connected via diodes (D1 etc) and resistors (R1 etc) to a shared control potential. The reverse voltage of each diode is selected according to its position in the ladder. A transistor switch (t4) applies the control voltage to the ends of the base resistors. |
