A wheel assembly includes a hub (416) adapted to be mounted for rotation about an axis and defining a housing for enclosing a gear set (G), the hub having an inboard end and an outboard end carrying respective inboard and outboard flanges (418, 420), where at least the outboard flange is segmented onto the first individual segments. The wheel assembly also includes a cylindrical first rim (422A), surrounding at least a portion of the hub (416), the first rim being adapted to carry a tire and having a radially inwardly extending mounting flange (424A), wherein the mounting flange of the first rim is segmented onto the second individual segments performed in a complementary relationship to the outboard flange (420) of the hub and fastened to the inboard flange (418) of the hub. The first individual segments of the outboard flange (420) of the hub are axially offset from each other, and the second individual segments of the mounting flange (424A) of the first rim are axially offset from each other, wherein the first individual segments of the outboard flange (420) of the hub and the second individual segments of the mounting flange (424A) of the first rim provide sliding of the first rim (422A) along the outboard flange(420) of the hub by axial offset and rotation around hub axis able to reach the hub flange by the first rim to fasten the first rim to the hub inboard flange by bolts. |
