Discloses a herbicide resistant or tolerant plant that expresses a mutant EPSPS gene, wherein the mutant EPSPS gene expresses an EPSPS protein that is mutated at amino acid positions Thr179 and Pro183 in an Arabidopsis EPSPS protein (AF360224) or at an analogous amino acid residue in an EPSPS homolog sharing at least 70% sequence identity, and wherein Thr179 is changed to Ile and Pro183 is changed to Ala.
