<p>Sequestrant regenerates or maintains efficiency of hydrogenation catalyst. Metal catalyst, used for hydrogenation of reducible, cyclic organic cpds., contains or is treated with 1 x 10-6 to 2 mol sequestrant/g. atom metal. Pref. catalyst is Ni, Pd or Pt on inert carrier and sequestrant is aminopolycarboxylic acid, esp. EDTA or its alkali metal derivaties. Organic cpd. pref. is freed from catalyst poisons. Activity and selectivity of catalyst is regenerated and/or maintained by resultant removal impurities. Treatment is esp. suitable for Pd-on-C catalyst used in hydrogenation of phenol to cyclohexanone.</p> |
