<p>Disclosed are an apparatus for reducing the diameter of a pipe and a method for reducing the diameter of a pipe using the apparatus. The apparatus for reducing the diameter of a pipe by processing a pipe comprises: a workbench; a rotary table which is installed on one side of the workbench to be able to rotate, and which rotates at high speed; a fixing chuck which fixes the pipe to be vertical to a front surface of the rotary table; a tool block which is positioned to face the front surface of the rotary table; a cylindrical forming roller which is coupled to the tool block to be able to rotate; and a moving means which is coupled to the tool block and which moves the tool block so that a corner in which the front surface and the side surface of the forming roller meet each other is in contact with the outer circumferential surface of the pipe fixed to the fixing chuck. The apparatus for reducing the diameter of a pipe, of which the forming roller has a round corner with a predetermined curvature diameter, can prevent a pipe from being damaged by minimizing the generation of shear stress in a stepped part when the diameter of a pipe is reduced while a stepped part is formed on the pipe.</p> |
