The present invention relates to a method in a location services (LCS) server of a wireless communication system, for positioning of an LCS target. The method comprises first obtaining information relating to a first predefined geographical area within which the LCS target is unlikely to be located. Then receiving a request for a positioning of the LCS target; associating a second geographical area with the first predefined geographical area, wherein the first and the second geographical areas at least partially overlap. Thirdly, subtracting the overlap between the first and the second geographical areas from the second geographical area so as to identify a portion of the second geographical area within which the LCS target is likely to be located. Finally, calculate the position of the LCS target based on positioning measurements collected in the portion of the second geographic area identified by the subtracting step.
