Pharmaceutical formulation in the form of bilayered tablets comprising hmg-coa reductase inhibitor and irbesartan

Disclosed is a pharmaceutical formulation in the form of a tablet comprising: a) a first layer containing irbesartan (2-butyl-3-({ 4-[2-(2H-1,2,3,4-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]phenyl} methyl)-1,3-diazaspiro[4.4]non-1-en-4-one) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; and b) a second layer containing an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (for example atorvastatin), and a basic additive such as sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) or magnesium carbonate (MgCO3). Formulation is useful for treating hypertension and hypercholesterolemia.
